        OPENING CEREMONY OF KVK KALABURGI-II (RADDEWADGI)

The Opening ceremony of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kalaburgi-II (Raddewadgi) Tq: Jawargi, Gulbarga District of Karnataka was held on 12-01-2013 at 3 Pm on KVK premises. This was inaugurated by Hon’ble Central Minster for Labour & Employment Dr. M. Mallikarjun Kharge Ji.  In his speech he said that KVK caters the technological needs of farmer in the area and carry out the location specific demonstrations on the viable technology on the farmers fields which in turn builds the confidence of the farmers.   He appealed the farmers to use this opportunity to reap maximum benefit in the changed agrarian situation i.e., increased irrigated area through Upper Krishna Irrigation Project and number of barrages constructed across the rivers in the district.  Further, he assured that Govt. of India is ready to support this kind of vocational training efforts which committed for the growth & development of the farmers.

            

            Mr. N. Dharmsing Ji, Present Member of Parliament, Bidar and former Chief Minister of Karnataka also addressed the gathering on the occasion and informed the famers to get the benefit of scientists placed at KVK.

         The Zonal Project Director of Zone-VIII, Dr. S. Prabhukumar, briefed the role of KVKs in the agriculture development.   He informed that 31 out of 631 KVKs of the Country are working in Karnataka and this KVK, is 601st. The KVKs are basically involved in technology assessment and refinement, apart from imparting vocational training to rural youth, farmers / farmer women on front line demonstrations and also involved in On Farm Testing of technologies in the area.

          Dr. B.V. Patil, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, UAS, Raichur spoke on the importance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the area and mandates and its relevancy in transfer of technology for varied farming situations i.e., dry land as well as irrigated.  Further, he asked the farmers to take advantage of KVK facilities including soil testing and timely advice on scientific farming in the area.  He also informed the gathering the availability of Home Scientist who takes care of many gender issues who facilitates in empowering the women folk. 

          Mr. Allam Prabhu Patil, Hon’ble Member, Board of Management, UAS, Raichur and Member of Legislative Council welcomed the gathering and Dr. K.P. Viswanatha, Director of Extension, UAS, Raichur expressed the vote of thanks for the participants on the occasion, while programme anchored by Dr. S.B. Goudappa, Programme Coordinator at the function
